Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome presenting with seizures.
Hyperperfusion syndrome, previously known as posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), is a clinico- radiological entity with characteristic features on neuro-imaging. It is believed to be caused by vasogenic oedema, predominantly in the posterior cerebral hemispheres. We report the case of an elderly man who presented with convulsions and was diagnosed to have PRES due to hypertension.

متن کاملPosterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome after solid organ transplantation.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is known to occur after solid organ transplantation (SOT), potentially associated with cyclosporine and tacrolimus. In this study, we assess the frequency and clinical and imaging characteristics of PRES after SOT. MATERIALS AND METHODS We identified 27 patients (13 men and 14 women; age range, 22-72 years) who develop...
متن کاملPosterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome After Orthotopic Heart Transplantation: A Case Report
BACKGROUND Calcineurin inhibitor-induced posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is well described in liver and kidney transplant patients, but there is a paucity of data in heart transplant patients. PRES syndrome in the setting of heart transplantation can occur as early as 5 days following transplantation. CASE REPORT A 32-year-old woman who had recently undergone orthotopic hear...
متن کاملTacrolimus-associated posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome after solid organ transplantation.
Tacrolimus (TAC) is an immunosuppressant drug discovered in 1984 by Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. This drug belongs to the group of calcineurin inhibitors, which has been proven highly effective in preventing acute rejection after transplantation of solid organs. However, neurotoxicity and nephrotoxicity are its major adverse effects. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is t...
